For the Gronckle, the How to Train Your Dragon animation team studied the way walruses and rhinoceroses move for inspiration, and then imagined what that creature would do if it had the size and speed of a hummingbird’s wings.
I attempted to keep things short and simple in my last post but perhaps I should have expanded on my point. You can’t assume self confidence is easy for anyone. I’m sure some people looked at that post and scoffed but I’m hoping some people got the point. No matter what you look like, if you are insecure you’re going to find flaws in your appearance. And these thoughts are poisonous. They take over and before you know it you’re not satisfied with any piece of clothing, or concerned with every calorie you take in, or covering your face when you laugh or staying quiet in group situations to avoid being noticed. You shouldn’t let insecurities smother your personality. Just because I have this blog and post photos of myself doesn’t mean I don’t suffer with some of these feelings. I’m not looking for sympathy. I needed to be in a good place physically and mentally in order to be productive and attack these ambitions and part of that was making these feelings a thing of the past. Not saying every day is easy but I definitely spend a lot less time focusing on it and more time on constructive, positive things. No more sappy posts, back to the art!

Photographer Dina Goldstein’s series “Fallen Princesses“ has actually been around since 2009 but I had never posted the photographs as a complete set before. The project looks at Disney fairy tale princesses and their harshly realistic modern day lifestyles. Seems not everybody lives happily ever after. This project has won several awards, been published internationally in magazines, analyzed by experts in the field of Fairytale literature and studied in High schools and Universities.
